Vancouver’s rainy December evenings were made for Christmas movies. The tricky part in Canada is working out where anything is actually streaming: the Hallmark movies air on W Network, Charlie Brown lives on Apple TV, Home Alone is on Disney+, and the free stuff is on CBC Gem.
This guide puts the whole 2026 season in one place: every new Christmas movie and special on each platform, a day-by-day release calendar, the free ways to watch, and our picks by mood. Each platform also has its own detailed page.

W Network: Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas
In Canada, Hallmark’s Christmas movies premiere on W Network, and there are 34 of them this year, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night from October 16 to December 20, plus a few midweek extras. Highlights include Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story (October 17), Tyler Hynes and Laci J Mailey in The Nights Before Christmas (November 14), Lacey Chabert in Holiday Ever After: A Disney World Wish Come True (November 28) and A Grand Biltmore Christmas with Andie MacDowell (December 5). You can watch on cable, or stream on STACKTV through Prime Video, the Bell Fibe TV app or Rogers Ignite. Full schedule: W Network Christmas movies 2026.
Netflix
Netflix’s 2026 slate starts with Dennis Quaid and a corgi in A Dog’s Perfect Christmas (November 4) and ends with In a Holidaze (December 2), a time-loop rom-com with Maddie Ziegler and Rob Lowe that was filmed in Vancouver and Whistler. In between: Tyler Perry’s The Gospel of Christmas, the Swedish comedy The Christmas Switch, and Guarding Stars with Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki. Its back catalogue, from Klaus to The Princess Switch, is the deepest of any streamer. Full list: Netflix Christmas movies 2026.
Disney+
The home of Home Alone, The Santa Clause, The Muppet Christmas Carol and The Nightmare Before Christmas. New this year are two family specials: A Proud Family Wizmas (November 14), a stop-motion musical, and Mickey’s Home Alone (November 27), where Mickey and Pluto get left behind at Christmas. Full list: Disney+ Christmas movies.
Prime Video
Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Santa in The Man with the Bag (December 2), a heist comedy with Alan Ritchson and Awkwafina, and Clashing Through the Snow (November 23) is a rom-com with Christopher Briney and Michelle Randolph. Red One and Candy Cane Lane are already on the service. Prime Video is also an easy way to get W Network’s Hallmark movies through the STACKTV add-on. Full list: Prime Video Christmas movies.
Apple TV
Apple owns the Peanuts specials, so this is where you’ll find A Charlie Brown Christmas, free to stream on December 12 and 13. New this year are Snoopy Presents: 12 Days of Snoopy (November 13) and Fraggle Rock: A Holiday Gift (December 4), and Spirited, with Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds, is still there. Full list: Apple TV Christmas specials.
CBC Gem
The free option. Its Stream for the Holidays collection opens November 1, with the Great British Baking Show Christmas special (November 20), the Call the Midwife Christmas specials (November 27), The Great Canadian Holiday Baking Show (November 29) and the TV movie A Runaway Bride for Christmas (November 30). Full list: CBC Gem Christmas 2026.

Christmas Movies Filmed Around Vancouver
Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley are among the busiest places in the world for making Christmas movies, and many Hallmark films are shot here every summer, with fake snow on real BC main streets. This year’s Netflix film In a Holidaze was shot in Vancouver and Whistler. If you want to walk onto a set yourself, Merry & Bright at Martini Town in Langley turns a working film backlot into a Christmas village with movie snow and Santa. And for a small-town Christmas that looks like it came out of a Hallmark movie, try the Ladner Tree Lighting Festival or Winter in the Village in Steveston.
Watch a Christmas Movie Out on the Town
- The Vancouver Symphony’s Elf in Concert plays the film with a live orchestra at the Orpheum, when it’s on the calendar.
- The Peak of Christmas on Grouse Mountain shows Christmas movies in its Theatre in the Sky.
- Goh Ballet’s The Nutcracker is the classic live alternative.
