Bright Nights is built by firefighters. More than a thousand of them volunteer their time every year to put up the displays, hand out candy canes and collect donations, and every ticket goes toward helping burn survivors across BC and the Yukon. For a generation of Vancouver families, it meant the train in Stanley Park. Now it’s in Surrey.
The 2026 Bright Nights runs November 27 to December 29 at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds, as part of Noël Surrey. It’s the Burn Fund’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Here’s what’s there and how your ticket helps.

Where It Came From
Bright Nights started in the mid-1980s, when Bob Wingfield and Marg Barrett lit up their Surrey home and used it to raise money for burn survivors. In 1997 their collection went to the Burn Fund, and firefighters from across BC have been putting it on ever since. It spent more than 25 years in Stanley Park. If you’re wondering what happened to the train, see Bright Nights Train in Stanley Park.
Where the Money Goes
You can donate at the entrance and along the walk. The Burn Fund says every dollar goes to programs for burn survivors:
- Burn Camp
- Little Lionhearts Family Camp
- Thrive Retreat
- Home Away at the Burn Fund Centre
The Burn Fund also benefits from Canyon Lights at Capilano, which has raised more than $550,000 for it.
Bright Nights 50/50
Online 50/50 tickets go on sale in November. One winner takes half the jackpot, and the other half funds Burn Fund programs. You have to be 19 or older and a BC resident.
