Once a year, a train covered in Christmas lights rolls through the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver, stops for about half an hour in each community for a free live show. The CPKC Holiday Train is in its 28th year, and it is also a food-bank fundraiser: people come to watch and bring donations, and CPKC says every donation stays in the community where it is given.
The 2026 Holiday Train runs across Canada from November 21 to December 20. In the Lower Mainland it makes five stops over two days, on Saturday, December 19 and Sunday, December 20. Here are the stops, the performers, how the event works and how to watch safely.

How It Works
- It is free. All Holiday Train events are free, and CPKC says any source asking for payment for tickets is fraudulent.
- Donations stay local. CPKC says every donation stays in the community where it is given, supporting local food banks and organizations.
- Short stops. The train and concert are at each stop for about 30 minutes, so arrive before the listed start time.

Safety Near the Tracks
CPKC asks everyone to stay at least 50 feet (15 metres) back from the tracks when viewing the train or taking pictures. Never take a photo or video standing on the track or the ballast, and always stand back from the locomotive and box cars.
Scam Warning
Holiday Train events are free, and CPKC will never ask for personal, banking or financial information to attend. For news and event information, rely only on official CPKC channels.

Getting There
The stops are along the railway through the Fraser Valley and the Tri-Cities and Maple Ridge area. The schedule gives street locations but no parking or transit details, so check a trip planner and the local area before you go. The Port Moody stop is at 300 Ioco Road, and the Port Coquitlam stop is on Kingsway Avenue.
