Vancouver Christmas Market 2026

Walk down to the harbour on a December evening and you’ll smell it before you see it: Glühwein, bratwurst, roasted almonds. Then the huts come into view, the three-storey Pyramid glowing in the middle of Jack Poole Plaza, a carousel turning beside it and, every half hour, a flurry of fake snow that makes every kid in the place look up at once.

The Vancouver Christmas Market has been doing this on the waterfront beside Canada Place since 2010, and it’s still the most traditional German-style Christmas market in the region. In 2026 it runs from November 16 to December 24. Below are this year’s hours, ticket prices, what’s on, what to eat and buy, and how to fit it into a night downtown.

Vancouver Christmas Market 2026: Quick Facts

Opening Hours

Hours change through the season. Early on, weekday opening is 4:00 PM. In the last week before Christmas the market opens at 10:00 AM every day, and on Christmas Eve it closes early at 6:00 PM.

Tickets and Prices

Pre-sale pricing runs from September 21 to November 15, and prices go up on opening day. Once you’re through the gate you can stay as long as you like.

A few things worth knowing before you check out:

• Fees and tax are extra. The individual season pass shows $32.99 plus $1.97 in fees, and the family pass $74.99 plus $6.33.
• Single tickets need an arrival window. You pick a 30-minute slot. Season passes skip that and use a priority lane.
• Season passes include 10% off at vendors (not alcohol, with restrictions). The ticket page describes this as Monday to Friday, so read the terms.
• Bring ID. The name on a season pass has to match your government-issued ID.
• Groups of 15 or more save 20% on tickets of $19.99 and up, Monday to Friday until December 11.
• Buy only from the official ticket site.

One small inconsistency: checkout lists a $3 individual and $10 family pre-sale discount valid until November 20, while the main pages say pre-sale ends November 15. Go by the date shown when you buy.

What’s On

• Prost Show under the Pyramid. One page lists it at 7:00 PM daily and another says twice daily, so check the board when you arrive.
• Snow showers every 30 minutes and an hourly light show on the Pyramid.
• The Christmas Carousel and the Hans the Elf scavenger hunt for kids.
• A 35-foot walk-through Christmas tree and lit-up alleys between the huts.

• Theme nights: Après-Ski Saturdays and Krampus Night. Dates weren’t posted when we checked.
• Date night extras: Lover’s Lane, the Fire Pit Lounge and the Secret Wall Cocktail Hut.

What to Eat and Drink

The food street, the Gourmetstrasse, has more than 35 food and drink vendors, with vegetarian and vegan options and pretzels and hot chocolate for kids. Some of the stalls on this year’s list:

• Savoury: Continental Brathaus, Haxen & Hen Haus (pork shank and grilled chicken), Das Schnitzel Haus, Cheese Me Raclette, Das Soup Haus, Helmis Perogies, Belgian Fries Haus, Hurricane Potato & Kartoffelpuffer Haus and Skewers Haus.
• Sweet: Das Strudel Haus, Gingerbread Haus, Transylvanian Chimney Cakes, Pancake & Waffle Haus, Mr. Hotcakes, Authentic Churros, Choco-on-a-Stick and Das Zucker Haus.
• Drinks: Glühwein and non-alcoholic Kinderpunsch at the Pyramid, Feuerzangenbowle (mulled wine with rum), German and Austrian beer at the Bier Haus, spiced cider at Das Apfel Haus, hot cocoa (plain or spiked) and coffee.

Vendors can change during the season, and food prices aren’t published in advance.

Shopping at the Huts

More than 90 wooden huts line the Marktplatz and the Gourmetstrasse. The shopping is a mix of European importers and BC makers:

• German and European: Das Nutcracker Haus, German Ornaments, Herrnhuter Sterne (the Moravian paper stars), Huss Incense, Stollenhaus, Troika Germany, Unique Glass Ornaments and Sonnentor Tea.
• Chocolate: Choco Haus, Zotter Chocolates, Crimp & Crumb Chocolates and La Lula Alfajores.
• Local makers: Tundra Designs, Verity Pearl, Golden Meadows Honey Farm, Hook & Yarn Atelier and Little Earthfolk Toyshop.
• Bottles: Dominion Cider, Quinta Ferreira Estate Winery and Tofino Distillery.
• Also: The Sock Shack, Toque, the Ugly Christmas Sweater Shack, Puccissimé Pet Couture and the Merch Hut, which rents umbrellas and runs Lost & Found.

If you’d rather buy handmade from local artists, Circle Craft at the Convention Centre next door runs November 11 to 15, just before the market opens.

Who It’s Best For

• Families: Santa’s Workshop, the carousel and the scavenger hunt. Kids 6 and under get in free with no ticket.
• Couples: Lover’s Lane, the Fire Pit Lounge and a cocktail at the Secret Wall.
• Friends: the Prost Show, a Bavarian beer and a group discount.
• Gift shoppers: ornaments, nutcrackers, chocolate and local crafts in one place.

Getting There

The market is at Jack Poole Plaza, 1055 Canada Place, on the downtown waterfront. Waterfront Station (SkyTrain, SeaBus and West Coast Express) is a five-minute walk, which beats looking for parking on a busy night. Make an Evening of It Downtown

The market sits in the middle of the city’s busiest holiday blocks, so it’s easy to pair:

• Next door: Soar With Santa at FlyOver is in Canada Place, a few steps away. The usual Christmas at Canada Place display isn’t running this year because of construction.
• A short walk: the gingerbread houses at Gingerbread Lane in the Hyatt Regency (December 3 to 28) and the lights and carollers of The Magic of Gastown.
• Same week as opening: the Vancouver Christmas Tree Lighting at the Art Gallery on November 27, and free skating at Robson Square once it reopens in December.
• Across the water: take the SeaBus to the free Shipyards Christmas Market in North Vancouver, open from November 27. Doing both in one evening is very manageable.

About the Market

Malte Kluetz founded the market in 2010, inspired by the Weihnachtsmärkte he grew up with in Germany. It started as a modest market on the waterfront and has grown into what the organizers call a full European village.
